In 2016, we're focusing on active living through a FREE series of health-related community lectures presented by our expert medical staff at Riverside Doctors' Hospital Williamsburg. Each lecture is presented in the main conference room at Riverside Doctors' Hospital Williamsburg and will be followed by a question and answer period.

That's A Fact: The meeting on Wednesday, May 25, is on the benefits of Pet Therapy. Jane Ruehrwein and Kiy, the service dog, will join us to demonstrate how service dogs may be able to make life easier for people with PD.
A valuable resource for people with Parkinson's, their families and caregivers

This fall offers an abundance of educational opportunities. Start off with our regular September meeting of the Parkinson's Support group on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Then make sure to join us for the Wednesday, Oct. 26 meeting that will feature Riverside's movement disorder neurologist Jonathan Butler, Ph.d., M.D.

MS Support meets September 27, 2016. Our meeting on Tuesday, September 27, will feature a presentation by Allsup, a company that helps patients apply for disability.  - That's a Fact: Many individuals affected by MS may qualify for disability with Social Security if their symptoms have caused significant restriction to their functional abilities. Support and learning for people with MS, caregivers and families

Our meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27, will feature a presentation by Allsup, a company that helps patients apply for disability. Allsup is the nation's premier disability representation company and has specialized in disability services for over thirty years.

In addition to learning more about disability benefits, it's a good opportunity to share your story, with all its achievements, challenges, hopes and frustrations with individuals who understand the challenges of managing MS. Those who have lived with MS for a while can be a big help to newly diagnosed individuals by contributing something you know, or some coping strategy you use, that can make a significant difference in someone else's life.

The First Steps Newsletter is 10 months of very helpful information that will guide you through pregnancy and childbirth with tips, thoughts and reminders that this is one of life's most incredible journeys.
